WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR A MATERNITY SESSION?
The best time for a maternity session is anytime after 26 weeks for a first time pregnancy, and possibly earlier for subsequent pregnancies, since you will be showing sooner. Twin or triplet pregnancies can be photographed even earlier. Please get in touch if you are considering a maternity session - having the time to properly plan is very nice when you are already quite busy getting ready for baby.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR NEWBORN PHOTOS?
A sweet spot for brand new baby portraits is when your baby is 7-14 days old. During this time babies are sleepier and naturally curled, which allows for peaceful, womb-like images. However, newborn photographs are not limited to only this window - natural posing and focusing on your connection with the baby can be captured beautifully at 2-4 weeks post birth.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SCHEDULE A NEWBORN SESSION?
I suggest reserving your newborn session about 2-3 months before your due date. We can pencil in a date and adjust as needed once baby arrives.
HOW LONG IS A NEWBORN SESSION?
Newborn sessions last around 2 hours.
WHAT IF MY BABY IS FUSSY?
During the first 14 days babies are generally sleepier and easier to settle, but even if your little one is more alert or fussy please do not worry - feeding, swaddling, and movement work wonders, and helping settle your baby is something I enjoy. I keep the session calm and peaceful, your only job is to make sure baby is well fed. A pacifier can also be helpful during this time, and I do keep individually packaged newborn pacifiers in the studio if needed.
CAN SIBLINGS BE INCLUDED IN THE PHOTOS?
Yes! Siblings are always welcome. Including them creates beautiful, memorable family images. Session time may be longer in this case so please plan accordingly - we will make sure everyone gets their time in front of the camera.
